Who was Sean Carmen?

Sean was an energetic, spontaneous, sometimes mischievous, delightful person. He was full of energy and always willing to help someone out. Sean was born on March 10, 1987 and grew up in Lakeview, Ohio and was the son of Dan and Cheri Carmen. Sean was known for his smile and his famous practical jokes. He enjoyed being around people and loved to helping everyone out.

Throughout his high school years Sean was very involved. He participated in Football, Meistersingers, Key Club, S.A.D.D., Drama Club, High School Musicals, and held two jobs at Community Storage and Properties and A & H Hose and Fitting. Sean had the ability to light up a room with his smile, laughter, and his charm. He was someone that had ability to connect with everyone no matter the age or gender.

Along with being heavily involved Sean also possessed strong leadership skills. Sean believed in being dedicated to what you want to accomplish. He believed that person is responsible for their own character by reaping the seeds they sew. His dedication to service and serving others defined who he was. Sean lived by the motto of “Pay it Forward.” This is the idea of taking what others have given to you, and in return passing it on to someone else. Sean did this throughout his life and even after.

Sean was killed in an automobile accident on December 1 st, 2004. When Sean died he was able to once again “Pay it Forward.” Two of Sean’s organs were able to be donated. His liver was donated along with his cornea to someone he didn’t know. Today his organs are helping to make a better life for someone else.

The many memories of Sean still allow people to smile when they remember him. This scholarship allows for his memory to remain alive and his attributes to be passed on to someone each year.

In closing, Sean’s smile was contagious and his laughter infectious whether you knew him or he was a stranger you passed on the street. He is deeply missed by all who loved him.
